Boots Passport Photo 2026: Booths Removed — Print-Only Now

❌ No in-store photos ✅ Print from £0.27 ❌ No photo code

Boots no longer operates passport photo booths in any of its stores. All in-store photo machines were removed in July 2024. What Boots offers now is a printing service only — you bring or upload a compliant digital file and Boots prints it.

Boots removed all passport photo booths in July 2024. If you walk into Boots expecting someone to take your passport photo, you will be turned away. The service no longer exists. Boots now only prints photos you bring as a digital file.

Bottom line: Can't get your photo taken at Boots. For a full service, go to Timpson (~£8–10) or Snappy Snaps (~£13–16). If you already have a digital file (e.g. from PixID), Boots is one of the cheapest places to print it — from £0.27 per 6×4 sheet. No photo code for online renewal.

How to Print at Boots

Option 1 — In-store CEWE Photostation kiosk (~£0.27–£0.55)

  • Bring your compliant digital file on a USB drive, or access it via the Boots Photo app or website on your phone.
  • Find the CEWE Photostation at your local Boots. Not every branch has one — check in advance.
  • Select a 6×4 inch (15×10 cm) standard print.
  • Pay and collect — prints ready within minutes. Cost: approximately £0.27–£0.55 per print.

Option 2 — Online order + in-store pickup (~£0.27)

  • Go to bootsphoto.com and upload your 6×4 printable sheet file.
  • Select 6×4 format, choose your local store, place the order (~£0.27 per print).
  • Boots emails you a QR code. Ready for pickup in approximately 30 minutes.
  • Scan QR code at the store kiosk to collect your print.

Option 3 — Home delivery (~£2.52 total)

Order online at bootsphoto.com and have it delivered by Royal Mail. Total cost approximately £2.52 including postage. Slowest option — allow 2–3 working days.

The Cheapest Compliant UK Passport Photo in 2026

Total: ~£4–5. No store visit needed for the photo itself.

  1. Create your photo with PixID (~£4 equivalent at $4.99 USD) — download a 6×4 printable sheet with 4 passport photos laid out, HMPO compliant.
  2. Upload to bootsphoto.com or use the CEWE Photostation at your local Boots.
  3. Print a single 6×4 sheet — approximately £0.27.
  4. Cut along the crop marks. Done.

This gives you a digital JPEG (for online renewal upload) plus printed copies — for less than the cheapest in-store booth option in the UK.

Photo Code — Why Boots Doesn't Have One

A photo code is a short alphanumeric code provided by certified UK photo services (Timpson, Snappy Snaps, Post Office, Asda, Max Spielmann). You enter it during online passport renewal instead of uploading a file yourself — the studio has already transmitted the photo to HMPO's system.

Boots does not provide photo codes. If you need a photo code for online renewal, go to Timpson, Snappy Snaps, or any Post Office offering Digital Check & Send.

If you're comfortable uploading your own JPEG to the passport renewal portal, you don't need a photo code — PixID's file works for direct upload.
